Quilts of Valor

This is a great project - creating quilts for servicemen and women wounded in battle. My first quilt for the project went to a Vietnam vet:

The project includes not just a quilt, but also a journal of some sort & a presentation case to put the quilt in. Here's my presentation case:

I actually didn't quilt the top, it was sent to another volunteer who has a longarm machine.

Wish I COULD do that, too! Anyhow, here's my completed second Valor:

I haven't sent this one off, yet -- still waiting to hear back from qovf.org to find out where it goes. I really loved the quilting on this one -- they look so much prettier when they come back from the quilter. On this quilt, the quilter used white thread on top and variegated blue on the back side (which happened to be all white) and she interspersed some stars and a 'thank you' in the meandering lines - really nice.
